America’s Vulnerability

“Noah came before the flood. I have come before the fire.”  Joseph Smith, Jr.

In 3 Nephi of the Book of Mormon the Savior mentions two covenant lands, Jerusalem of the Old World (3 Nephi 20:29) and the New Jerusalem of the New World 3 Nephi 20:22). As a covenant land, America has been greatly blessed. But as always those blessings come with conditions. In 2 Nephi 1:7 we read, “…if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them; wherefore they shall never be brought down to captivity; if so it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever.

How can the land become “cursed” because of iniquity and yet “blessed forever” for the righteous? As wickedness engulfs our beloved country we see a widening gap between the forces of evil and the covenant people of God. In our book Sacred Places of Refuge we discuss how the Lord’s pattern has always been to protect the righteous by removing them from the midst of the wicked during such times.

Facing the Future with Faith

Our inspired leaders have counseled us to face these uncertain times with faith rather than fear.  It’s important to understand that “faith” is an action word.  The Bible Dictionary states, “Faith is a principal of action and of power.”  The apostle Paul said, “Faith without works is dead.”  (James 2:20)

The Last Five Prophecies

We know that as of the missionary surge in 2013, we have entered the “hastening of the work” prophecy (D&C 88:73).  Over 40 ancient and modern prophecies regarding the latter days have now been fulfilled, with only five remaining. Nobody knows the exact timing, but based on the Doctrine and Covenants, the timeline of the remaining prophecies is as follows:

  1. Fulfillment of the “Time of the Gentiles” (Missionaries called home) – Just a few verses after the “hastening of the work” reference, D&C 88:88 reads, “…and after your testimony cometh wrath and indignation upon the people.”
  2. “The Great and Dreadful Day of the Lord” (The Cleansing) – Immediately following, D&C 88: 89-91 read, “… then cometh the testimony of earthquakes, that shall cause groanings in the midst of her, and men shall fall upon the ground and shall not be able to stand. And also cometh the testimony of the voice of thunderings, and the voice of lightnings, and the voice of tempests, and the voice of the waves of the sea heaving themselves beyond their bounds. And all things shall be in commotion; and surely, men’s hearts shall fail them; for fear shall come upon all people.” D&C 45: 25-28 further describes this rapidly approaching event as follows, “…whole earth in commotion…men’s hearts shall fail them…love of men shall wax cold…an overflowing scourge…a desolating sickness shall cover the land… earthquakes and desolation.”
  3. The Return of the 10 Lost Tribes – D&C 110:11 reads “…leading the 10 lost tribes from the north country.”  D&C 133:27 explains further, “And an highway shall be cast up from in the midst of the great deep.”
  4. The Building of the New Jerusalem – D&C 45: 63-66 read, “…New Jerusalem, a land of peace, a city of refuge, a place of safety.”
  5. Adam-ondi-Ahmen and the Second Coming – Regarding the sacred culminating event D&C 88:93-95 includes, “The Ancient of Days (Adam) shall sit.” …and D&C 116:1 follows up with “…the face of the Lord shall be unveiled.

With “The Cleaning” being the next prophesied event, this website is designed to act as a virtual community in working together to develop the subsistence skills we will need to not only survive, but thrive as the covenant people of the Lord as he sweeps the wicked from the face of the land in preparation for the building of the New Jerusalem and his Second Coming.
